The Fat Trout Explorer Concept

Fat Trout Explorer guides mainly in the mid region of Scandinavia. The areas of Jamtland in Sweden and Trondelag in Norway are both well known for their abounding fishingwaters. The variation in fishing opportunities is big and both regions have great nature and wildlife. And all of this is offered to you as a customer with Fat Trout Explorer guiding you.

The main focus of a guiding company is to give the customer a good chance of catching that special fish. As guide you are sometimes more hands-on guiding and some times you can lean back and just enjoy the moment with the customer. It´s a part of the knowledge about guiding to be able to let the customer set the standard. In addition to these attributes a guide most have the social competence for entertainment and recreation on the trips. This is one of the criterias that shine through our demands for our guides.

We also tend to that our customers are in good hand on account of the non-fishing time in our camp. Therefore we have established a network of partners that we use to provide every detail to the fullest. We can practically provide everything from a wilderness massage, a cultural excursion to a visit at the local dairy. Our main focus is of course the fishing but in addition, we want you to experience everything the local area has to offer.

Fat Trout Fishing

“The mayfly landed perfectly on the water surface of the river, just upstreams of the rising trout we had been watching for the last hour. I could barely stand still as the fly danced downstream on the water. Suddenly the trout emerged the surface in a perfect rise and took the fly into his mouth. I froze for one moment but woke up again when the guide shouted “strike”! A few minutes later I landed a nice wild brown trout”

The fishing we offer are based on many years of enthusiasm and a genuin facination towards flyfishing and wildlife activities. With this dedication in our hearts we will at all time see to that you get the best service and guiding to our lakes and rivers! We can offer you exclusive fishing in both rivers, medium sized lakes and in the small lakes up in the mountains, where we know that we can guide you to a fishing experience you will not forget. We and our guides main goal is to provide you with knowledge, enthusiasm and a natural feeling while you fish our waters.

Our conclusion is that we simply love our job and that is how you will experience a trip with Fat Trout Explorer!

We can also provide you with flyfishing gear and some clothing if needed. Together with us you will also be given the opportunities to reach the very best fishing spots using bellyboats. We also give you the best flies for every water you fish.

“I really gotta recommend this! Nice company, beautiful fish and an awesome landscape! Soft laid back dinners at the camp contrasting sweet, sweet adrenaline rushes at the lakes and streams. I might even consider starting regularly cheating on my beloved grayling!”

Fat Trout Explorer Accommodation

At the Fat Trout Explorer camps you will experience good accommodation in large lavvo-tents with beds or in cosy cabins where it`s available. All our camps are situated in the areas we fish and you will always be in the middle of both the action of fishing and the relaxation of the nature!

The nature and wilderness is at all time present and we can promise you that the stories and laughter by the campfire will amuse you and perhaps you will make new friends for life. We provide you with good comfort, outstanding nature and the very best service – in the middle of some of the Scandinavia`s most beautiful nature!

Fat trout works with three types of accommodation.

In areas there we have the option we provide you with cottages situated on the locations that we work in. Comfortable beds and cosy furniture provide a nice resting area between fishing sessions. These are also the place where we have our informations, dining and socialising. The cottages are of different types typical for the area. It´s not a hotel, it´s more of a home.

In our special purpose mobile camps you will get your own comfortable bed covered with reindeerskins i lavvo-tents which all have woodburning stoves. We also have a large lavvo-tent where you will be served your food and where you can relax after a long day with fishing. We also have a sanitary-tent for your use.

For our rougher rides as mountainside overnight fishing we use light weight tents. These tents are all top quality and will keep you dry and rested as we head out into the wilderness on our expeditions. We give you the best experiences and comfort in our Fat Trout Explorer camps!

“Waking up to the sweet sound of the river outside and the smell of the morning coffee after a good night sleep in the lavvo was real nice. I did not know that you could live this comfortable out in the wild. And when the chef announced that breakfast was served I really looked forward to the rest of the day! Thanks to the guides and the chef!”

Fat Trout Kitchen

During your stay at our camps you will experience good food. But not only good food. We aim to show you what wilderness cooking in mid Scandinavia is all about.

We only use local products from the area. Meat from game- and livestock, dairy products from mountainside farms and locally produced bread and vegetables. All this to make sure that your culinary experience here at Fat Trout Explorer is savory.

We try to capture the soul of the countryside and the tastes of wilderness in our kitchen.

The cooks that work under the flag of Fat Trout have all the same courses to work with and hopefully you will be one of the people who leave us with not only memories of fishing.

Our all inclusive trips gives you the best of three worlds. The beautiful scenery, the exiting fishing and the best you can get in the outdoors when it comes to food.

“The chef at Fat Trout Explorer served us a late dinner on our arrival to the camp site. And what a dinner. That meal was just the beginning of the impressive cooking that lasted all weekend. Used to hot dogs and canned food on my trips i was utterly surprised by the Chefs ability to create magic in the outdoor kitchen. Actually a renaming of the Fat Trout Camp to just ?Fat Camp? should be in place. Because I have never eaten so much and so tasteful food!”
