After a long and cold winter The Fat Trout Crew are now waking up from our “long sleep”, and are now very focused and enthusiastic towards starting the season for the seatrout in the weeks to come.
Some of us have already started our hunt for the silver fish at the coast. Due to some weeks of wind and snow a few nice seatrouts have found their way into the landing nets.
Next week we will go to Denmark to fish seatrout for some days before we are attending as exhibitors at the Danish Flyfestival in Kolding from 25. – 27. of March. We will keep you posted here at our blog both from the trip to Denmark and then also from our fishing here in Norway during the spring season!

Then The Fat Trout Crew are back in Scandinavia after exciting and fun days in England. Johan, Roger and Geir went with excitement and enthusiasm to Gatwick/London on thursday last week and after some hours by train we met up with Per the Swede in Mansfield.
Per did a great job giving us quality service and guidance during our stay in The Midlands and we could not have got a better man for the job.
As we also got hooked up with Donato as our private taxi driver at all hours we had real pleasant transfers to and from all the places we went.

We attended The Spring Flyfishing Show in Newark Saturday and Sunday and had a great time speaking to the visitors and exhibitors. During the weekend we spoke to hundreds of people dedicated to fishing and got a great opportunity to display our concept and products to thousands of flyfishers.
The feedback was far better than we could imagine from the people that found our products more then just interesting, and we have already had several customers that are comming to see us for the upcomming 2011 season. We also managed to get bookings for the 2012 season as well.

We would like to thank all the nice people we have spoken to during this weekend for the interesting talks and also a great thanks to our exhibition collegues that wished us welcome and took good care of us Scandinavians at the Flyfishing Arena;-)
PS! For those who have not decided for their flyfishing holiday in 2011, and would like to book with us, the special price for the The Spring Flyfishing Show is still valid:-) Please contact us for booking or more information!

Some of us sit in a small tiny space of our homes tying new miracleworkers for the upcoming season, some take control of the icefishing spots and some people like to listen to or read about some of the legends in fly fishing our area. I think that beeing impatient in every area exept with a rod in hand I am of the third category. Been reading Lars-Åke Olssons books about his experiences and knowledges around the fine art of fly fishing. It holds me in awe to see a man so dedicated and in love with what he does. There are many like him of course and I don´t think the most dedicated wrote books, they fished instead but still I can´t shake this feeling of admiration away. Never met this man even though he lives only an hours drive away but I´m keeping him with the other “oldtimers” from now on…
Ahead of us as a company is a couple of days in the cradle of flyfishing, England.
Visiting the British Spring Flyfishing Show will do us good.
It´s not so often that we have so much time on our own as we do on these occations. A lot of potential customers and a excellent opportunity to see a bit of Great Britain. I must admit that I would have stayed a lot longer if it was up to me. We aren´t looking ahead to the most relaxed summer to come and I´m guessing this will be both relaxing and fun. Hope to meet interesting people and see some things also. I just have to buy new shoes… Hope to catch some of you guys there….
Best Regards from Ersa.

The Fat Trout Crew represented by Johan and Geir, did a presentation of the company, our concept and products in Krokom this Thursday.
We were invited to this event by representatives from the different communities along the road from Krokom in Sweden to Namsos in Norway where they have a good focus on developing fishing tourism and managing the organisation for best possible fishing activities.
We were very pleased with the nice feedback from the representatives and are looking forward to the processes to come!

We at the Fat Trout Crew have since we started developing our concept and products had a strong focus on meeting the standards of being a certified ecoturism company. All our camps, activities and fishing are created from the love and understanding of nature and a ecobased administration to healthy fishing areas.
After attending a highly interesting and informative seminar a couple of weeks ago listening to a representative from The Ecoturism Society of Sweden, we got a confirmation that we can offer the market ecobased fishing- and camp activities. We surely hope that we can work towards a collaboration with companies both in Norway and Sweden to build a strong alliance so that we can be able to offer anglers and flyfishers high quality ecobased fishing experiences into the future!
Feel the nature and enjoy the excitement of beeing a part of it!

So now were online again and our anticipation to the coming season is online also.
Been working more than 14 hrs a day with the homepage the last couple of weeks.
The single malt in the glass after sitting down in the sofa tonight was longed for and after reading the posts on the usual flyfishing forums and looking into a few of the magazines, I just kicked back, relaxed and enjoyed the silence.
More and more meetings with the guides, outfitters and potential customers show me that I`m not alone having this clear and present feeling of abstinence for fishing. Been spending time on the web seeking a new #6 rod and a reel that fits it. hence being totally unbound to brands I can choose from lost of stuff. Have noted that we flyfishers have a tendency to look for small makers and brands in our desire to find the “one” rod that fits you perfect. I have done something like that but I decided to choose line first and then try to find a rod and reel that fits it. An bit backwards but I like it that way. So, if you know something that would fit a “Guideline Bullet”-line in #6, give me a feedback.
In the other corner of the companys concept development I`m waiting in awe for a decision on some new waters. An untouched area, not fished for at least 10 yrs might be avaliable to us this summer. Seeing what the “Secret Creek” did to our guests last season it makes me bouyantly happy to announce this if it falls into place. The “Secret Creek” is located in the upper northwest of Jamtland and gave us some fantastic light weight fishing last season. We have never seen a so well designed water for the trout to thrive in. Lots of smaller trout that made good fun both on the dry fly as well on small goldheads. The creek holds a couple of larger ones to, but these were careful and cautious in their approach on the flies. The “Secret Creek” came to be my favorite spot last summer and our guests agreed even though the +2 kilos fish was taken elsewhere in our waters. Untouched nature and the presence of bears and moose made every bend of the river a surprise. This year a more dedicated release on this creek is on our destination-list on the homepage and I think it will be filled rather rapidly. we keep the number of trips here to a minimum to keep the genuin feeling of the water intact. and it´s of course only C&R fishing in this one too…
Now I´m back to sipping whiskey and the woman is calling for my attention…
